Delaware #2
From the Editors of Driving Today
There are lots of fun little shops in the area, which are ideal for some great shopping. About six miles more of driving take you to Rehoboth Beach. The beaches of Rehoboth, Dewey, Indian River, Bethany and Ocean City are loaded with sun worshipers and all the trappings of resorts. The Fenwick Island Lighthouse is an artist's favorite. From here, it's all ocean and barrier island beaches for 33 miles into Maryland and Ocean City. Ocean City offers excellent deep-sea fishing. Assateague Island is home to the Chincoteague ponies and Peregrine falcons. There are ranger programs for canoeing, surf fishing and clamming on the windswept unpopulated island – totally different from Ocean City or Rehoboth. You may drive all the way in heavy resort traffic or bypass some of the congestion by taking Rte. 90 south to U.S. 113. Plan to make many beach stops along the way for some fun in the sun before ending your drive at the Assateague Island National Seashore. Driving Today: Legendary Drives
